I am a Bzz Agent so from time to time, I get sent products in the mail to try and then write a review about them. I love this program and am thrilled to start blogging my reviews so my readers can try the stuff, too. Ask me how you can be a Bzz Agent.
I had the opportunity to try The One Sweep Eye Shadow and Double Extend Eye Illuminator Mascara by L’Oreal Paris. I was sent the eye shadow customized for Blue Eyes and the mascara customized for all eye colors in Black Crystal (review to come).
The One Sweep Eye Shadow is extremely unique in that it boasts that it will define, color and highlight your eyes in one easy sweep. The applicator is much larger than that of a typical eye shadow applicator so that one should be able to draw the applicator across three shades all at one time and then apply those three shades directly to the eyelid in one fluid sweep. To explain this further, click on this link for a step by step demonstration. I had to read it a few times before I attempted to do it on my own.
First of all, I was extremely skeptical when presented with this eye shadow. The idea that this applicator would somehow magically sweep across my eyelid and define, add color and highlight my eyes in one sweep was hard to believe. As mentioned earlier, I had to read the step by step instructions many times before attempting it myself. Also, it took me awhile to realize that those instructions were hidden somewhere on the back of my eye shadow compact. I did find the application instructions eventually, but had to peel a layer back from the sticker on the bottom of the compact to find them. That was frustrating to me. I didn’t feel like the package explained where the directions were located very well. I had the Bzz Agent kit in front of me with the application directions, thankfully. (Had I not wanted my readers to know where to find the application instructions on their own compact, I wouldn’t have bothered to search for it in the first place.)
As I mentioned earlier, I read the instructions many times and then painstakingly took my time to apply the shadow to the applicator and then apply the filled applicator to my eyelid. I think I held my breath, too. Let’s just say that one sweep didn’t do it for me. It looked hilarious and it didn’t go on evenly. The bottom color (used for definition) was too strong and the middle color was barely visible. I liked the highlighter but it had to be reapplied on it’s own, as did the middle color. I also felt that the darkest shade was too dark for my eyes. My eyes are grayish-blue so maybe the brown would look better on more vividly blue eyes? I don’t know. My eyes are also hooded so that is probably why the middle color had no hope of showing up. Again, I don’t really know. But, I do know that I prefer applying each color on it’s own with brushes. I tried this over and over again and just gave up because it took too much time and I never achieved the desired results.
The Bzz Agent program sent me free samples of this product. Though they provide the products, the opinions are my own.
