Honey Bunches of Oats Review

We love cereal in this house. My kids started on good ol’ plain Cheerios and preferred the plain stuff for a very long time. It took awhile for the “grown up” cereals to be tried and even now, they will usually pick something more kid-friendly like Honey Nut Cheerios or Frosted Mini Wheats. Of course, what I have in the house also correlates with what I had a coupon for and what was on sale sometime in the last three months. :-) With this deep appreciation for cereal, I was thrilled to be asked to review Honey Bunches of Oats Honey Roasted as a Purex Insider. Up until now I have been reviewing laundry detergent, but I am excited to review even more products as an Insider. Honey Bunches of Oats isn’t a new cereal, but they keep coming out with more flavor varieties. They have also added more of those tasty granola bunches to every box (my favorite part)! I was sent the Honey Roasted variety and it was absolutely fabulous. Crunchy flakes and sweet oat clusters were marvelous with my morning coffee. Plus, it doesn’t have any high fructose corn syrup, yet boasts of 10 whole grains (wheat, oat, corn and rice). Nutritious and great tasting are sometimes hard to come by in the same box of breakfast cereal. I also discovered that it only has 6 grams of sugar. Our beloved Honey Nut Cheerios has 9 grams! Before being asked to review this product I had a great coupon which allowed me to try the new Fruit Blends with Banana flakes and Blueberry oat clusters and they are also yummy!

Today I was eating a bowl of the Honey Bunches of Oats Honey Roasted when my 6 year old asked if she could try some. When she declared that she wanted more, my two year old had to get in on the action. Both children not only had seconds, but they were disappointed to find out that was the end of the box. I happened to have another variety on hand (the Fruit Blends with Peach flakes and Raspberry clusters) and they declared this variety very good, as well. My husband even had a bowl after watching our kids devour this great tasting and healthy cereal. My entire family gives the Honey Bunches of Oats cereals two thumbs up. :-)

FREE CoverGirl Blush at Walmart!

In today’s paper (10/2) you should have received the P&G Coupon Insert. Inside is an $8/2 FACE PRODUCT coupon. Face products have been defined as foundation, concealer, powder and blush. The CG Cheekers blush is priced at $3.97 each at my Walmart. In other regions I’ve heard it priced even less. I made 3 cents off of each blush I “bought” today. I had three coupons so I bought six blushes FOR FREE AND had change to apply to my other items. Go get a paper if you haven’t, yet! One compact of blush will more than pay for the money you spend on the paper and you will walk out with two of them! :-) You may just want to buy two of them if you like CoverGirl Blush! I have some rockin’ ladies in my church who hook me up with the coupons they don’t use so I only buy one paper.

Product Review: Downy Unstopables In-Wash Scent Booster

Thanks to Vocalpoint, I was selected to recieve a full-size sample of the new Downy Unstopables In-Wash Scent Booster. I have been using this product on and off for the last month and am amazed at how intense the fresh scent remains on clothing hanging in the closet or housed in drawers. Stinky socks won’t know what hit them! But, you may be asking what exactly is an In-Wash Scent Booster. I didn’t know what it was either until I opened up the bottle.

Downy Unstopables are dissolving scent beads that you put into your washing machine before starting your wash so that more scent is infused into your clothing. The freshness is boasted to last more than 30 days. I have only had this product for less than a month so I will be sure to share my results. I truly have been amazed how fresh the clothes smell and I haven’t noticed any negative changes in the appearance of my clothing or towels like a filmy residue or anything of that nature. I only have one complaint about the product. I’m not really sure that I would always want to have to add ANOTHER product to my laundry every time. Why can’t this be a softener, as well? I love the Purex Complete Crystals softener that has replaced my liquid fabric softener, so why can’t Downy Unstopables do the same thing??? I truly love the smell of my clothes, but I don’t know if I would buy another product for the scent boosting power alone. Those who need scent-free laundry soap and softener wouldn’t have a need for this product at all, I guess. The verdict is still out on if this is a must have product for me. I do admit that I’ll be sad when I run out–I really like to use it on smelly dish rags that were left in the sink too long (*GASP* I just admitted a flaw!) or on Stevan’s especially smelly clothes after he’s been sweating outside all day.
