In Awe…

I want to be in awe of God’s creation like Ella. Butterflies are flying just out of the camera’s view. :-)

Mommy, You’re Beautiful!

Ezra loves to declare these words to me at any given moment of the day. He is quick with his praise and compliments. He is also quick in getting into mischief. He knows he’s done wrong and “does his time” and usually adds, “Mommy, I love you!” or “Mommy, you’re beautiful!”

I wonder if God feels the way I do after I’ve been exasperated by my son’s actions and then hear words of endearment. Does he question my sincerity? Does he wonder if I even understand that I sinned, asked for forgiveness and then acted as if all was normal? Here’s what I do know…no matter what the offense that was committed, my unconditional love for my son will not be diminished. God’s word says that His love for us is unconditional, as well. I’m so thankful for that.

April Showers didn’t bring the May Flowers..they were already here! :-)

As for just about every person we know, the weather has been rather crazy around here. Our mint patch has taken off and has already been cut twice! It’s begging to be cut again. My husband is begging that I make more Mint Tea, too! The fridge needs cleaned out before I can fit a bunch of pitchers of Mint Tea in there, though! :-) I don’t recall such lively Spring growth so soon, do you? I even got sunburned last week from playing outside! I did have sunscreen on, I promise. I just must have missed some spots, not counting on shedding my light sweatshirt. Lesson learned.

April is becoming quite a month in our household and in our family members’ lives. Ella turns 6 this month!!!!!! (Can this really be??) She LOVES Kindergarten! She writes pages of stories constantly and is READING!!!!!! I think she’s most excited about bringing a birthday treat to school. It wouldn’t surprise me if she writes a story about it, too! With this crazy week creeping up rather quickly on us I should probably figure out how to make a Ladybug Cake in the next day or two. I only have a week to perfect it. Remember my hilarious Rapunzel cake attempt last year?? (Please tell me you have forgotten!) Ella only remembers it with “rose colored glasses” for which I am truly grateful. :-) In other words, she still thinks I can make anything.

How crazy of a week is it, do you ask?? Well, some of the events are—- Ella has a solo in the Kindergarten Spring Concert at school on Thursday. My parents are coming to visit at the end of this week. Stevan and I leave to go to a district pastors and spouses retreat on Friday while my parents watch the kids. Yes, we shall mourn our loss the whole time we are in a hotel ALONE! I doubt if they’ll miss us much anyway. :-) I have loads of laundry to conquer, still have to plan meals for this week and I definitely need to write directions on how to watch tv with our remote and Netflix for my mom. Sometimes this proves to be rather hilarious…my directions and her trying to understand them. It’s probably good my Dad will be around. Maybe we’ll just let Stevan explain it to him. :-)

Speaking of birthdays…My sister turns (ha, like I’m declaring it before her) this month, too! She is also trying to sell her house. Need a house in Marion, IN? I’ve got just the place for you! :-)

Some other stuff has been happening in April (and the months before), too, that needs some prayer. My husband’s mom is in need of a valve replacement for her heart. Her surgery was scheduled for yesterday. But, on Thursday it was postponed by the doctor’s office. Apparently some other individual needed emergency surgery. We’re thankful we aren’t in that family’s situation, but waiting and wondering isn’t very easy to do. My sis-in-law flew in from Chicago to be with her mom after the surgery and now I’m sure she is wondering how her trip is going to pan out. I’d want to be with my mom after her surgery, too, but staying indefinitely would be hard to make happen. Please pray for this situation, will you? God’s Hand is so obvious in all of this, so please help us to keep looking to Him when the answers aren’t evident. As of now, the surgery does not have a new date. Pray for Stevan’s mom as she maintains her health situation during this time. She has peace and is trying to follow the doctor’s orders right now. Keep Stevan’s entire family in prayer at this time. We’ll keep you posted.

Another thing to pray with me about is my little man, Ezra! Ummm…….HE turns 3 next month!!!! Sure, he’s looked 3 years old for the last six months, but he really is almost 3….and has no desire to potty train. Yes, I know you’re laughing at that last statement. Pray for this Mommy as we venture into that fun transition! :-)

Stay tuned for footage of Ella’s solo and any stories of Ezra attempting to run onto the stage and sing with Ella. You know the possibility is always likely with Ezra. :-)
